Royals Rumblings - News for January 15, 2021

Today is the last day to come to terms with arbitration-eligible players before exchanging figures, and Lynn Worthy writes about whether unsigned Brad Keller and Adalberto Mondesi could get long-term deals.

“Of course, when we evaluate a player that we think has a chance to be successful over the next four to eight years, we want first crack at them,” Moore said. “Certainly there’s a financial analysis that goes into that. If it matches up with the medical analysis, the statistical analysis, the scouting analysis — if all of those things match up with the financial analysis — we’ll probably get a deal. Sometimes it just doesn’t (match up).”

The Royals did attend Corey Kluber’s workout.

ROYALS: Kevin Seitzer — Aug. 2, 1987 vs. Red SoxThe Royals have had numerous three-homer games from stars such as George Brett to Bo Jackson to Lorenzo Cain. Kendrys Morales has the club record with a 15-total-bases game. Mike Moustakas owns the club mark with a 9-RBI game at Camden Yards. But of the three six-hit games in club history, none will top Seitzer’s game against the Red Sox, a 13-5 Royals win. Seitzer, who was an All-Star that season and finished second in Rookie of the Year balloting to Mark McGwire, was unstoppable on that day. Seitzer had two home runs and a double — 13 total bases altogether. He also scored four runs and drove in seven. A remarkable day at then-Royals Stadium.teammate Danny Duffy said
