We’re into the point in spring training where the roster is starting to come into place. Earlier today, we learned that Nick Heath and Kelvin Gutierrez were optioned to Omaha; the two were candidates to make the big league roster as reserves. As we get closer and closer to opening day, we’ll continue to see more moves.

Today’s battle against the San Francisco Giants will feature a few players that are on the bubble. Bubba Starling is probably on the outside looking in, considering the Royals’ signings of both Michael Taylor and Jarrod Dyson. Likewise, Kansas City’s addition of Carlos Santana likely means that Ryan McBroom, who has options remaining, won’t start with the big league club.

But you never know—big performances could sway the Royals’ minds one way or another. Let’s see what they’ve got.
