Spring Training Gamethread XIX: Royals at Diamondbacks

Nearly there, now

As Spring Training begins to wear on us all we have fewer than two weeks to go until real baseball starts up once more. As spring training winds down we should begin to get a better idea of who will start with the big league club and who will have to wait until later in the season.

Danny Duffy will make the start, today. It will be his fourth of the Cactus League which has seen him strike out only 6 across nine innings with a 6.00 ERA. Still, he seems like a near-lock to open the year in the starting rotation even if he might end up in the bullpen before the year is out.

Bobby Witt Jr. is not in the starting lineup, today, but Kyle Isbel is. He’s a name to keep an eye on. He probably won’t start the year in the majors but may be seen later in the year with some combination of strong performance in the minors and injury or failure on the big league team.

Today’s game can be heard on mlb.com and 610 Sports Radio in Kansas City.
