The Royals have optioned outfielder Kyle Isbel to the Alternate Site, according to Alec Lewis of The Athletic. No corresponding roster move has been announced.

Isbel was hitting .265/.306/.324 but had struck out 41.6 percent of the time in 36 plate appearances. The Royals are currently carrying just 11 position players and 14 pitchers. Isbel sat a lot when the Royals faced a string of left-handed starting pitchers, but are scheduled to face just one lefty in their four-game weekend series against the Tigers.

Ryan McBroom was optioned down on April 13, and could not be recalled for ten days. Adalberto Mondesi is still expected to be out an additional 2-3 weeks, according to reports. Lucius Fox, Kelvin Gutierrez, and Edward Olivares are also on the 40-man roster.

11:15 a.m. update: Ryan O’Hearn has been recalled. O’Hearn has hit .212/.304/.414 with 28 home runs in 672 plate appearances over the last three seasons.
