Happy Mother’s Day to every mom out there, especially the Royals moms who want to see their team’s seven-game losing streak end.
Mike Minor gets the nod for his 7th start of the year in the final match-up in the three-game series. Over his first six starts, Minor’s ERA is just over 5, in large part that he leads the Royals staff in home runs allowed this year with 6. He will need to keep the ball in the park against a tough White Sox lineup.
On the bump for the White Sox is their Opening Day starter, Lucas Giolito. The right-hander’s ERA is 4.99, however that is mainly because of his disappointing start against the Boston Red Sox where he only threw one inning allowing seven runs at Fenway Park.
Giolito has a career record of 7-2 vs the Royals. Which can be seen as a negative because he has shown to have success against Kansas City. But, it can also be said that the Royals hitters are very familiar with the all-star.
Royals hitters look to get back on track today. Over the seven game losing streak, the Royals hitters have just a .233 batting average. The key today against Giolito will be not just to get traffic on the base paths, but capitalize when there are runners out there.
