For the second straight Sunday, Kris Bubic is facing the St. Louis Cardinals and a veteran left-hander who the Red Birds traded for at this year’s trade deadline. And just like last week, Bubic is going to work to prevent a sweep to the cross-state rival.
Bubic’s final line was 4.2 IP, 1 ER, 4 H, 4 K, 4 BB. That one run was on the second pitch of the day when Dylan Carlson launched a get me over pitch for a solo home run.
Bubic is 3-5 with a 4.43 ERA this year.
Today, the Royals will face off against J.A. Happ. This is the fourth time that Happ has faced the Royals this season. The first three matchups were when Happ was a member of the Twins.
The first matchup back in May, Happ went five innings and got the win. The second game, the Royals got the better of the left hander scoring 5 earned runs in both games.
J.A. Happ is 6-6 with a 6.34 ERA on the season.
The Royals offense has only scored 4 runs this series and three of those took place in the final inning of last night. Hopefully that momentum they had last night carries over into today.
