Royals look to continue their hot streak against winning teams today as they send Brady Singer to the mound to complete the sweep against the playoff contending Seattle Mariners.
Singer is coming off of an encouraging start where he has begun to use his changeup more frequently. In his last start against Houston, Singer got his first two strikeouts of the year on the change ups. The big struggle in his last outing was his four walks in only five innings.
Now, Seattle is not what the Astros offense is, but he will need to be more aggressive attacking the zone if he wants to get back in the win column; his last win was 11 starts ago on June 1st.
Pitching for Seattle is veteran Marco Gonzalez. This season, the lefty is 5-5 with a 4.13 ERA. He has been much better of late only allowing 5 ER in the month of August in his five starts. This includes his complete game 2 H 1 ER effort against the Rangers.
The story of this past week, specifically the last couple of days is the absolute tear that Salvador Perez has been on. He is one man who does not want to see the calendar turn to September. This month alone he has 11 home runs, 4 in the last 4 games.
This will be the Royals 17th game in a row, they are 10-6 during this ‘dog days of summer’ streak and will have a much deserved break tomorrow before they get back at it on Tuesday against Cleveland.
