A way too early look at the ten best draft picks in the 2022 MLB draft

It’s really early, but hey, why not?

MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred announces Frank Mozzicato as the seventh overall pick for the Kansas City Royals during the 2021 Major Leauge Baseball Draft at Bellco Theater at Colorado Convention Center on Sunday, July 11, 2021 in Denver, Colorado.

The Kansas City Royals are bad, again, and seem destined for a top draft pick, again. Though the Royals zigged instead of zagging to select Frank Mozzicato with the seventh overall pick in this year’s draft, there is a very long list of names available for next year’s draft. It’s never too early to start thinking about the draft, and so here we are.

This kind of early evaluation is dependent on a lot of variables, not the least of which will be the Royals’ eventual position. As I type this, the Royals are 45-60 and are on pace to secure the sixth overall pick in the draft. But considering where the other teams are around them, the Royals are absolutely not going to get the first pick, and they are very unlikely to get the second through fourth pick. Five teams are separated by only three games between the fifth through ninth picks, though, and that is where the Royals will probably end up.

So, even though it’s really early, let’s try taking a look at what next year has in store and start dreaming about who the Royals can add to their farm system.

Top 10 Draft Picks in the 2022 Draft

  1. First overall
  2. Second overall
  3. Third overall
  4. Fourth overall
  5. Fifth overall
  6. Sixth overall
  7. Seventh overall
  8. Eighth overall
  9. Ninth overall
  10. Tenth overall

Well, there you have it: the 10 best draft selections for next year’s draft. Personally, I’m a big fan of fifth overall. It has a nice ring to it; it’s bad, but not too bad, you know? Anyway, the 2022 MLB Draft date has yet to be announced, so keep an eye on the top-notch draft content here at Royals Review for mor einformation.
