Jim Callis at MLB Pipeline writes about a prospect for each team that rebounded this year.

Will Klein, RHP, Royals (No. 26) Klein went from the fifth round of the 2020 Draft out of Eastern Illinois to a strong pro debut in 2021 to a disastrous 2022, when he recorded a 10.51 ERA with 55 hits and 51 walks in 43 2/3 innings. He did a better job of harnessing his upper-90s fastball last season when he had a 4.62 ERA with 93 strikeouts in 64 1/3 innings between Double-A and Triple-A.

Jacob Milham at Kings of Kauffman writes about underrated pitching prospect Cooper McKeehan.

His 1.08 ERA was the lowest in the Carolina League from a pitcher with at least 50 innings since Corbin Burnes in 2017.

McKeehan works as an offspeed pitcher, utilizing a three-pitch mix of sinker, changeup, and curveball. His sinker in 2023 was fairly new, replacing his previous underwhelming four-seam offering. He still mixed in a four-seam fastball as a safe pitch, primarily in 3-1 counts. It is far from overpowering, but it froze Low-A batters who likely expected a breaking ball their way.

Governor Laura Kelly ruled out Kansas helping to pay for a new Royals stadium in Missouri.

Kelly, who made the remarks during a year-end interview, referenced the possible extension of a Jackson County sales tax to help fund stadiums. Jackson County legislators are weighing whether to approve a ballot measure that would ask voters if they want to keep paying the 3/8th-cent tax for another 40 years.

“So I think of it as strictly a Kansas City, Missouri-Jackson County issue,” Kelly said.
