Sandy Valdespino spent his last major league games with the 1971 Royals team, hitting .317 with 2 home runs in 18 games. He was 84 years old when he died on February 26.
Dave Nicholson, who had the major league record for strike-outs in a season for many years, never played for the Royals in the majors, but was purchased by KC from Atlanta in the winter of 68.
