“I think there are a lot of conversations going on right now,” Mayor Quinton Lucas said in an interview with FOX4 Friday when asked about Cordish. “All I know is it is actually a very healthy discussion of a lot of parties involved and engaged. I’ll let Cordish kind of speak for their own obligations, but Kansas City right now in this situation is talking to the county, following the lead of a lot of others. We want to make sure there’s a great deal for the taxpayers that makes sense.”

So, I have presented a lot of data about the concerns with Salvy’s performance overall in 2023. To many Royals fans, those red flags should be a reason why the Royals should look to part with Salvy sooner rather than later.

On the flip side, I remain optimistic about his outlook for this upcoming season, even though I am not sure how long Salvy will remain in Kansas City.

Jared Perkins at Farm to Fountains wonders how Daniel Lynch IV fits into the team.

A second option would be to bump Lyles to the bullpen in favor of Lynch IV. A strong spring for Lynch could surely lead the Royals in this direction. The one thing that could keep this from happening is that the Royals have a good amount of guaranteed money heading Lyles way. The likelihood is that they will want to give Lyles a shot in the rotation to see if he can bounce back and maybe they can secure some value for him at the trade deadline if he performs well. With Lyles not having to be a near top-of-the-rotation guy anymore, that could take some pressure off him to perform.

Baseball America picks one sleeper prospect for each team.

Trevor Werner, 3B Werner took a few years to find his footing at Texas A&M, but he put together a solid season in 2023 hitting .252/.349/.514 with 14 home runs. The Royals selected Werner in the seventh round and he immediately made noise upon his debut. Werner was initially assigned to the Arizona Complex League where after four games the Royals had seen enough to promote him to Low-A Columbia. There over 31 games Werner hit .354/.459/.699 with eight home runs while showcasing some of the best underlying data of recent draftees.
