Because Kansas City isn't allowed to play nine-inning games in the postseason, on we go to extras.

The scoreboard remains unchanged since the Angels tied in the sixth.

Yordano Ventura, Wade Davis, and Jason Frasor have combined to shut down the vaunted Angels offense.

The Royals offense threatened in the top of the ninth to no avail. But I Don't Know What To Do With Those Tossed Salads and Scrambled Eggs? Nails.

On to extras.

This game is an fWAR.

Tied up at one apiece. Heading to the top of the seventh.

Yordano Ventura worked around a scare in the fifth--with runners on first and second and no outs, and then again with a runner on third after a double play--but got into a jam in the sixth when Pujols came up with two on and two outs and singled before Ventura got out of the inning.

Josh Hamilton inadvertently hit Salvador Perez in the head on the back-end of a whiff, but thus far Salvador Perez has remained in the game.

Ventura has spent the evening making the Angels, particularly Albert Pujols and Josh Hamilton, look very foolish at the plate.

For his part, Matt Shoemaker has quelled nearly every Royals' rally attempt. Shoemaker has certainly had some help from <strike>Bob</strike> Chris Guccione, the home plate ump whose strike zone (and I am not a strike zone complainer) has been wildly inconsistent. Ventura's had some help, too, but some called strikes on Royals' batsmen have been shockingly questionable. Someone with better internetting skills will surely highlight this tomorrow.

LOL, the Angels tried to run on Ventura. It did not go well.

The Angels singled to start the bottom of the first, but after a Mike Trout force out, Trout did something silly and tried to steal off Yordano Ventura, the man who does not allow stolen bases. It did not end well.

An Alex Gordon RBI single scores Eric Hosmer, who had doubled.

Then Yordano Ventura hit 102, and coupled with the flux capassiter, traveled back in time.

Moustakas even bunted to beat the shift. It was glorious. Through three and a half innings, the Royals are up 1-0.
