The Royals win 7-2 thanks to an action-packed 6th and performances by all three cyborgs of HDH.

After the fireworks of the 6th inning, the rest of the game was relatively peaceful for the Royals.

Wade Davis mowed down the Giants with 14 pitches in the 8th.

In the bottom of the 8th, Josh Willingham worked a full count against noted garbage-time reliever Tim Lincecum, but ultimately struck out. Alex Gordon, basically invisible the entire game, popped out into foul ground on a 2-0 pitch. Timmay left the game with an apparent injury in the middle of Salvador Perez's plate appearance. Santiago Casilla is the sixth reliever Bruce Bochy has called upon tonight. He only had to throw one pitch to finish striking out Salvador Perez.

None of the above mattered much, because Kansas city had a five-run lead, and the 9th inning belongs to Greg Holland.

Batter 1: Strikeout.

Batter 2: Strikeout.

Batter 3: ....single, dang it.

Batter 4: Strikeout!

With that, the Royals win their first World Series game since Game 7 in 1985. Rabble amongst yourselves below.

Omar Infante delivers a blow, and the ensuing exchanges of words briefly clears the benches.

The Royals are digging deep into San Francisco's bullpen after an eventful 6th inning. Billy Butler came through again, driving in the go-ahead run. Lorenzo Cain runs fast in the bases, maxing out at 20.1 MPH on his way home.

Salvador Perez drove in a pair with a double off Hunter Strickland. And then OH MY HECK I AM LOSING MY MIND.

/clears throat/

Errr, sorry. Omar Infante homered to left, and Strickland took issue with Salvador Perez existing, I guess. Reportedly, he was saying, "Get in the dugout, boy," which...yikes. The bench briefly emptied, but there was no fracas, nor was anyone ejected. The 6th ended with a glorious 7-2 lead. (Hat tip to commenter kaiser1118 for that Vine.)

Herrera struggled a bit in the 7th, possibly because he sat for 30 minutes while the offense worked its magic in the 6th. But he settled down and shut down the Giants heading into the 7th inning stretch.!

The front-row Marlins fan is back in his seat after a couple innings of absence. I believe the consensus around here is that he is annoying? Maybe it's just the orange.

The Giants keep putting leadoff runners on. This game is frightening.

After showing some sparks in the 2nd, the Royals went down quietly in the 3rd.

For what seems like the first time ever, Lorenzo Cain went after a ball to deep center and did not catch it. He came close, with the ball bouncing off the heel of his glove, but Pablo Sandoval ended up with a double to start the 4th. Per Harold Reynolds, the wind had just started to pick up as the night cooled down. Mother Nature is a mean one.

The Giants capitalized when Brandon Belt drove Sandoval in to tie the game. Nori Aoki played the ball awkwardly off the bounce. I believe we have seen such awkwardness before.

But then, somehow, Aoki's bad defense came through in the clutch to end the inning. Michael Morse popped out on a full count with one out, and Aoki's throw went wild. Yordano Ventura scrambled after the ball and fired to Omar Infante to snag Belt at 2nd for a double play. #RoyalsDevilMagic?

To lead off the 5th, Mike Moustakas hit directly into the Giants' shift, stifling hopes that the Royals could start go get to Jake Peavy. Escobar and Aoki made meek outs as well, and Peavy finished the 5th having thrown just 57 pitches. Royals gonna Royal.

Yordano Ventura was pulled after 5.1, making way for Kelvin Herrera. Ventura gave up 8 hits, two runs (both earned), struck out just 2, and didn't walk anyone. How do you feel about the timing of Yost's hook?

Alcides Escobar's double put the Royals on top after a bummer start to the game.

Former Omaha Storm Chaser Gregor Blanco dashed the home team's hopes early with a home run to lead things off for San Francisco. However, the Royals rebounded.

In the bottom of the first, an out on the bases by Alcides Escobar stung badly, since Lorenzo Cain doubled immediately thereafter. Kansas City probably could have used another run. Billy Butler served up some Country Breakfast after an Eric Hosmer walk, scoring Cain. Alex Gordon uncharacteristically popped out on the first pitch to end the inning. It's a fool's errand to play "what if," but I am almost certainly a fool. So what if Escobar hadn't gotten caught? What if Gordon had taken even one more pitch? Chew on those questions below, if you wish. Hopefully they don't weigh too heavily on our minds tonight.

Aside from the homer, Yordano Ventura is throwing fire, much to the delight of the announcing crew. His fastballs are sitting snugly in the high 90s, with an almost unfair amount of late movement.

Omar Infante doubled with one out in the 2nd, and scored on an Ecobar double down the line.
